Every State's Got a Prospecting Story

Check out these cool and fun stats about prospecting by state.
Philadelphia,Pennsylvania, was our first capital between 1790 and 1800 when Washington, DC, was being built. So, is it any surprise that the state is home to the company with the most appointments BAO has set in the legal function?
The company that has accepted most meetings in the HR function is in Illinois, which was home to the world's first skyscraper. Standing at just 10 stories and 138 feet tall, it wouldn’t hold a fraction of the employees working in today’s high rises.
Over half of the world’s glaciers are in Alaska. If you want a meeting with an executive manager here, you might get the cold shoulder—the state is home to the fewest meetings set in that function.
Virginia is the internet capital of the world. Their license plate says so. (Actually, it says Internet C@pital.) Whether or not you agree, the state is home to the General Dynamics, the company with the most meetings set in the systems/infrastructure function.
There are more cattle than human beings in Montana. This might explain why Big Sky country is home to the fewest number of companies to have taken BAO-secured meetings. Because cows don’t use phones.
Indianais home to the company with the lowest dial-to-meeting ratio. At just 6, that’s a gift! The state is also home to a town called Santa Claus, which receives thousands of letters every December—and a group of volunteers replies to every single one.
Arizona’s Kitt Peak National Observatory has the largest, most diverse gathering of astronomical instruments in the northern hemisphere. Exploration must be in the water here—the state is also home to ON Semiconductor, the company with the most meetings set in the R&D function.
New York
BAO has set more meetings in the legal function in New York—1,552 of them and counting—than in any other state. And New Yorkers bite 10 times more people than sharks (the aquatic kind) do worldwide each year. Coincidence?
01001 is the lowest zip code in the continental U.S. and it belongs to Agawam, Massachusetts. 02021 is the MA zip code of Dunkin’ Brands, the company with the highest dial-to-meeting ratio in the country. It takes 843.8 dials to get one meeting here.
Washington, DC.
Home to the executive branch of government. And home to the International Monetary Fund, the organization with the most meetings set in the executive management function.
Delaware was the first state to ratify the constitution on December 7, 1787. Eager for democracy, but not so much when it comes to engaging with reps. At 27.2, this state has the highest dials-to-pitch ratio in the nation.
Home to the company with the most meetings set in the operations function. Clearly the folks at Pioneer Natural Resources are a busy crew. It’s also home to a lot of armadillos, who are not quite so productive—they sleep 16 hours a day.
New Jersey
New Jersey the highest population density in the U.S.—13x the national average. We’re guessing a lot of them are cybersmart, since Collabera, the company with the most meetings set in the information security function, is also headquartered in the state.
California is home to both the lowest and highest points in the continental U.S. When it comes to appointments, it’s all high ground—we’ve set more here than in any other state.
We forgive you, Wyoming. You may be the state that hosted the least number of BAO-secured meetings, but you sure are beautiful. And the fact that your state sport is rodeo? That’s pretty cool.
Did you know the first telephone book ever issued was published in Connecticut in 1878? Wonder if any of their descendants work at Aetna—we’ve set more appointments with execs there than at any other company.
